James Paul Harris

James Paul Harris was born on Tuesday, March 22 at 12:27 pm.  He weighed 8 lbs even and was 21 inches long.  He was born at the Agape Birth Center in Rigby, about 4 minutes from our house.  My water broke Monday night at 10:30.  I had sporadic contractions all night and then labor kicked in after taking some Blue and Black Cohash Tuesday morning.  After taking the herb tinctures my labor progressed very fast.  The most surprising thing about birthing naturally without any drugs was that it was not that painful.  I labored out of the water but when it was time to push I got into the large bathtub and James was born under water.  Drew was able to help "catch" him and help bring him out of the water.  James has a strong set of lungs and pinked up immediately.  It was a wonderful experience and by far my favorite birth.  It was very peaceful and an amazing feeling letting my body do what it was made for.  All of my other three births were at the hospital with pitocin and an epidural.  It was really cool to actually feel the need to push, and to feel James moving around between contractions. We are so happy to have James here and he is such a sweet baby.  And if you are wondering about the name.  James is a family name on both Drew and my families and Paul is after my father.  And we are not calling him Jimmer :)

Kate Sleeping

Lately Kate will not take a regular nap.  She doesn't like laying down on her bed and gets up and just plays or just cries.  So as a result we have stopped trying to put her down for a specific nap time and just let her collapse wherever she wants.

It all started at Lopez Island while we were camping.  I checked on Kate and she was playing in the dirt.  Two minutes later...
Hands in the diaper?
Watching Dora on the computer.
Snack Time
On a chair
On a Box!
This time it looks like she stole Will's pillow and blanket from his room.   She also gathered some toys to join her for her nap.
With her favorite stuffed animals... Clifford and Bear
Snack Time again.
She found a couch cushion for this nap.
These next few pictures of Kate sleeping are at bedtime.
Where's Kate?
Not in her bed.
There she is!
On the floor
In bed with Isabelle.  We actually find Kate in bed with Isabelle a lot.  Sometimes she is at the foot of the bed and sometimes she is laying across Isabelle.  Isabelle complains every night and morning that Kate will not go to sleep and keeps her up talking.  It's the truth, most nights you can find Isabelle asleep with her pillow and blankets over her head and Kate still playing an hour after bedtime.

June 2010

June started out with the International Babywearing Conference I helped plan. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of really cool people. We had three families stay with us during the conference. The Pepin family, Jean, Diane, Ray Jean, Xcenedra, Rene (Little Bear) and Jean Paul from Canada came and stayed 10 days with us. Will soon became best friends with Jean Paul and Little Bear (Rene). They even made their own super hero movie entitled, Super Bears. Will and Little Bear rescued Isabelle from the bad guy Jean Paul. The Pepin family was so helpful and always offered to help make dinner and clean up. We had the Mason family from Virginia stay with us. We really enjoyed their 5 kids and the great conversation. Kelley Mason is the creator of the Kozy Baby Carrier and she gave me a beautiful new carrier. We also had Jan Andrea Heirtzler the creator of my favorite ring sling and her adorable daughter Susan stay with us. Jan gave me the most georgous ring slings. I now get sling envy where ever I go. Check out her slings here www.sleepingbaby.net You can read more about the conference at our Idaho Babywearers blog www.idahobabywearers.blogspot.com.

The last weekend in June was the Ball Family Reunion. We look forward to this reunion every year. Some of the highlights are Candy Mountain, horse back riding, races, snow cones, lamb chops, all of the great food and the great company. I always eat way to much! We also have a tradition to go up to the cabin with my family after the reunion. This year we went rafting and took the paddle boat out on Palasades Lake.
